August 2018

The Union received notification of the University’s intent to contract our work related to masonry repair projects at Barge Hall, a parking lot sealcoat project, and tree removal. Additionally, the University notified the Union on its intent to partially contract out snow removal. No concerns have been raised on these contracting out notices.

JULY 2018

The Union received notification of new cameras at the new data center inside the Samuelson building. The University will comply with a memorandum of understanding it has had with the union since 2013, which stipulated that cameras be used for security purposes only and not for the monitoring of employees.  Access to the data center will be authorized personnel only and limited by key card access. The cameras are for monitoring the data center equipment and meeting the compliance requirements for securing credit card data. There will also be proper signage.

JUNE 2018

Jenny Ho

A demand to bargain meeting was held on proposed parking rate increases over the next several years. The University will hold the current rates until the issue is addressed in bargaining.

The union received a contracting out notice on a paving project. Members agreed that it was not bargaining unit work.

Held a 1-day Final Contract Language Review session with the BT on June 21, 2018

Held our first Bargaining Session with CWU on June 25, 2018

MAY 2018

Jenny Ho 

A demand to bargain on the contracting out of bathroom remodeling work was cancelled due to the cancellation of the project. The cost of the contract was over the University’s budget. The University will revisit the project next year.

A demand to bargain has been filed on proposed parking rate increases over the next several years. The demand to bargain is scheduled for June 4.

Held a 1-day Contract Language Review session with the BT on May 8

Worked on updating the draft UIP contract proposal for CWU.
