Big win at CWU

Big win at CWU L330 kicks off Labor Day Weekend 2017

The Federation and Local 330 members yesterday (Aug. 30) won a major cash settlement after Central Washington University in Ellensburg outsourced parking lot painting and carpet installation.

Under the settlement, six CWU Local 330 members will split $2,272 to cover the work they should have done that was outsourced.

As part of the agreement, the CWU administration must post on bulletin boards a notice that “acknowledges that CWU failed to give notice and bargain regarding work that was contracted out.”

And the university’s cabinet members and labor relations staff must attend a joint labor relations training with WFSE/AFSCME members and their reps so this kind of outsourcing incident doesn’t happen again.

The Federation’s Herb Harris, Local 330’s Skip Jensen and WFSE/AFSCME attorney Ed Younglove negotiated the settlement.
